DCTC Volleyball Announces the Signing of Mackenna Johnson

The Blue Knights volleyball team has signed Mackenna Johnson, a 6-1 opposite, from Grantsburg, WI.

"I am really excited that Makenna is joining our program. Mackenna is a game changer on the court! She is athletic, versatile, and an extremely smart player. Mackenna will make an immediate impact on the court and will give our team a lot of great options in our offense. She has a great work ethic and has a dynamic personality. Mackenna is also a great student; she has been on the academic honor roll and been involved in National Honors Society. Mackenna is going to do great things at DCTC." said head volleyball coach, Jen Bowman.

We asked Mackenna a few questions to get to know her better.

Tell us a little about yourself and about your volleyball history up to this point:

I am currently a senior attending Grantsburg High School, I enjoy hanging out with friends and family. In the summer, I enjoy spending time on the lake. My volleyball career started when I was in 7th grade. My freshman year I broke my foot and wasn't able to play, as a sophomore I started varsity as a right side hitter.

List the years and names of volleyball teams you've played for:
Grantsburg Volleyball, ClubRed 2017, Northern Attack 2018

List any volleyball/academic awards you have received:
I was named all-conference junior and senior year. Also, as a senior I was named all-state honorable mention. I received a few awards from my coach in the three years I played.  Throughout my four years, I have been on the academic honor roll, and been involved in National Honor Society.

Have you played any other sports?
I have played hockey for 12 years, and softball for 10 years.

I enjoy traveling, the outdoors, and riding horse.

Why you chose DCTC and what you are excited about in the coming 2 years?
DCTC is the school for me because I can continue to play volleyball, while getting an affordable education. When I toured DCTC, the atmosphere of the school was great. Jen was very helpful and knowledgeable, I'm excited for her to help me grow as a player.
