Dakota County Women’s Soccer Opens Season with a Win over Rochester

The Dakota County Technical College Women's soccer team opened their season with a 6 – 0 win over Rochester Community College on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Ames Soccer Complex.  Sophomore Kenya Macias (Farmington High School) opened the scoring 7 minutes into the game on an assist from freshman Meghan Larson (Simley High School).  Larson was not done for the night as she added two more goals of her own.  Also getting in on the scoring were Freshman Kalli Allard (Farmington High School) and Beth Swanson (South Saint Paul High School).  Sophomore midfielder Anna Giles controlled the middle of the field and was rewarded with a goal of her own in the first half.

The defense was tested several times by Rochester but was able to hold on for the shutout.  Sophomore Christine Brill (Park High School) and Freshman Olivia Jungmann (Tartan High School) anchored the back line.  Sophomore Jordyn Briebarth (Hilo High School, Hawaii) recorded the shutout.

The two teams play again this fall in Rochester.
